Review :
"For forty years, Peter Hare was an acknowledged leader of a loose assembly of driven scholars marginalized by dominant philosophical cliques caring little for philosophy originating in America. Shining examples of Hare's intellectual leadership, admirably collected here, will long retain their scholarly and inspirational value. This volume represents an essential narrative to a broader account of late 20th century philosophy in America." -- -John R. Shook University at Buffalo "Peter Hare is a significant figure in contemporary Anglo-American thought, not least of all because his writings no less than his character are a concrete embodiment of intellectual pluralism." -- -Vincent Colapietro Pennsylvania State University "Pragmatism with Purpose unquestionably contributes to the cutting-edge of contemporary knowledge, offering insightful treatments of other contemporary thinkers. Peter Hare is a significant figure in contemporary Anglo-American thought, not least of all because his writings no less than his character are a concrete embodiment of intellectual pluralism." -- -Vincent Colapietro Pennsylvania State University "I can think of no more fitting epitaph for Hare's life and no better celebration of what he was able to accomplish in his too few years than what is included in this volume." -Notre Dame Philosophical Reviews "For forty years, Peter Hare was an acknowledged leader of a loose assembly of driven scholars marginalized by dominant philosophical cliques that cared little for philosophy originating in America... This volume represents an essential narrative to a broader account of late twentieth-century philosophy in America." -- -John R. Shook University at Buffalo
