About the Book

The new edition of The Immune System has been thoroughly updated throughout. This book includes increased emphasis on genetics, the human immune system and the treatment of innate immunity, particularly the mucosal system. This gives the text a strong human slant making it particularly suitable for both undergraduate and medical school courses in immunology. Examples of human diseases and experiences are used throughout with less emphasis on mouse examples and more focus on human related cases. Chapters 7,8 and 11 have been significantly revised. Each chapter is divided up into 2 to 3 smaller sections to enable the reader to digest more difficult topics. The book aims to simplify these difficult topics without losing the necessary detail. Inclusion of end-of-chapter questions throughout the book enable easy learning and understanding of the content.

Table of Contents:

Review :
..."Appealing and relevant for those students who approach the study of the immune system through a clinical lens, including students of medicine, pharmacology, midwifery, or nursing; it would also be appropriate in an introductory immunology course.." 113(3):345-6 -Clinical Immunology, 2004
