About the Book

The Ten Fatal Errors That Led to Nazi Defeat For anyone interested in 20th-century history, the dynamics of power, or the psyche of a madman, this startling perspective of the Nazi regime during World War II turns history inside out with a shrewd analysis of why Hitler lost. Just how close did Hitler come to taking over the world! Acclaimed military historian Bevin Alexander probes beyond the apparent historical facts of World War II to interpret the driving forces behind Hitler's demise. This "counter-factual" study explores in depth the critical intersection between Hitler's personality and his military strategy. Alexander's eye-opening narrative shows how a few crucial changes in Hitler's approach could have ensured a Nazi victory - suggesting an ultimate alternative scenario that is chilling in its plausibility. Although World War II is a particularly compelling subject for historians and buffs, there has been no book that zeroes in so astutely on the vulnerabilities that proved to be Hitler's undoing. Bevin Alexander demonstrates that no interpretation of history would be complete without considering the question "What if?" and no one who reads this lucid account will ever look back at World War II in the same way.

About the Author :
BEVIN ALEXANDER is the author of five books on military history, and his battle studies of the Korean War, written during his decorated service as a combat historian, are stored in the National Archives. He lives in Bremo Bluff, Virginia.

Review :
"Bevin Alexander, an experienced military historian who writes with clarity and alarm, here presents a new and insightful interpretation of Hitler's lost opportunities to win World War II. In the process Alexander gives us a concise history of the war in Europe." -- Martin Blumenson, author of "The Patton Papers" and "Patton: The Man Behind the Legend" "In his latest book, "How Hitler Could Have Won World War II," author Bevin Alexander has synthesized and analyzed the military campaigns by Germany under Hitler's control in such a readable fashion as to intrigue both armchair generals as well as serious students of military strategy and tactics. It should be a required text for study at all military schools and war colleges." -- Thomas H. Moorer, Admiral, U.S. Navy (Ret.), former chairman, U.S. Joint chiefs of Staff "Speculation is the handmaiden of a historian's search for a story of the past.... Bevin Alexander has compiled his 'What if?'s' into a fascinating, plausible and, in retrospect, alarming scenario of what might have been if only Hitler had been a bit more rational, a bit better at grand strategy." -- F. J. Kroesen, former commander-in-chief, U.S. Army-Europe, and commander, NATO Central Army Group
