About the Book

Ed Jaworowski has spent his life learning, practicing, understanding, teaching, perfecting, and writing about casting. He is an acclaimed and widely recognised expert of the subject with an exhaustive list of credentials. This, his third book, is his tour de force. Filled with his 60+ years of casting wisdom, it explains the four principles of casting which if understood can be adapted to meet any and every specific fishing condition. Instead of telling you what to do, how to stand, how to grasp the rod, where to start and end the stroke, and how to move the rod, Ed teaches the first few things that all casts have in common—those principles—and then shows how to apply those fundamentals in endless ways. He covers casting theory and mechanics and then explains how to analyse and diagnose casts.   Based on Ed’s six decades of fishing for more than one hundred fresh and saltwater species, this is a book for all fly fishers, so that whatever fishing situation, whatever rod, whether on a stream, in a boat, offshore, onshore, or wading, the fly fisher understands what the aim is—to deliver the fly to the fish—and is able, because of an understanding of how casting works and what needs to happen, to make the cast and get the fish.

About the Author :
Ed Jaworowski has taught countless students his casting methods. He has done seminars and lectured at fly clubs and shows across America, designed rods for Temple Fork, made an acclaimed instructional video with Lefty Kreh, and written columns and articles for the major American fly-fishing magazines.

Review :
Ed has the most fundamental understanding of casting issues of anyone I know. Even Lefty agreed. He delves into why issues exist as opposed to simply how to correct them, and his brilliant analysis is most appropriate for advanced casters. I cherish his friendship and know that the knowledge he shares in this book will be of great value to all who study it.--Rick Pope, founder and chair of Temple Fork Outfitters Ed has, for over four decades or more, searched out the physics of casting, exploring all the nuances (and science) of modern fly casting that had never been fully explained . . . . Ed has created the how-to bible for would-be modern fly fishers . . . . Ed's book provides these instructions--in text, illustrations, and photos--better, and more effectively, than any other author has ever done.--John Randolph, Former Editor/Publisher Fly Fisherman Lefty Kreh called Ed Jaworowski, "The best fly casting instructor I have ever met." Ed was born to be a teacher, his craving for knowledge is unexcelled and his passion to share it is unmatched. Unlike most casting books that tell you how to stand, move the rod, grasp the rod, in Perfecting the Cast, Jaworowski explains there is no one way to cast that meets every situation. He describes four physical principles and how to apply them as conditions or circumstances allow or demand. His discussion of the "the critical angle," a term he coined more than twenty-five years ago, will revolutionize how we look at and understand casting efficiency. Perfecting the Cast is a must read for every serious angler.--Tom Gilmore, author of Tuna on the Fly, False Albacore, and Flyfisher's Guide to Pennsylvania Many years ago, while watching one of Ed's casting demonstrations, our late friend and mentor Lefty Kreh leaned over and said, 'No one knows more about casting than Ed.' This is certainly reflected in his casting book. It is a seminal work that is a culmination of his unbounded expertise and enthusiasm. Regardless of one's experience level, anyone who casts a fly line will benefit from this book's wealth of material.--Nick Curcione, internationally recognized outdoor writer, instructor, lecturer and tackle consultant and author of The Orvis Guide to Saltwater Fly Fishing The most innovative approach to casting I've ever read, Ed Jaworowski's Perfecting the Cast is a game changer for the art of casting. From mechanics to diagnostics, this book will be the user's manual for the fly rod. It's certainly helped perfect my cast!--Jason Randall, DVM, author of Nymph Masters, Trout Sense, Moving Water, and Feeding Time Understanding the how and why of fly casting has met its match in Ed Jaworowski. His passionate quest to explain the complexities of fly casting has led him to this newest work--his best! Read this and you'll read it again. No one ever did it better. This is a book that breaks new ground by clearing years of false technical teachings and replacing them with proven physics of how a cast develops. I was privileged to watch Ed search for real answers to casting problems most of my life. Now you can see the genius of his life's work.--Bob Popovics, author of Pop Fleyes and Fleye Design
