About the Book

Clarice and Dave Johnson are a married couple struggling to overcome physical trauma, personal disappointments, and unrealized expectations. They also have differing opinions on what it means to be successful and live a meaningful life. Designer-label-conscious Clarice is driven by her quest to climb the social ladder; Dave is satisfied coaching little league and running a janitorial service. But after Clarice is injured in a car accident, the constant presence of her physical therapist Julie creates strife that quickly moves the Johnsons' marriage into crisis mode. Now, Clarice and Dave struggle to find resolution as they learn the importance of promises made and kept-and discover that help sometimes comes from unlikely places.

Review :
How does a marriage fall apart, and how does one go about saving it? Bestselling author T. D. Jakes puts those questions at the heart of his novel...Are both Dave and Clarice willing to fight for their marriage? And should they? For Jakes, the answer to the second question is clearly yes. He captures the rapidity with which relationships can fall apart, along with the rigorous and painful healing process, which requires honest communication, self-denial, and humility. The story is far from a fairy tale and at times too true to life to be readily enjoyable, but readers will find themselves attached to the characters. Jakes' faith appears throughout the story in a gentle way, which should make this book appeal to both Christian and general market readers. -- "Publishers Weekly" Popular pastor, speaker, and bestselling author T. D. Jakes mines the emotions of a couple on the cusp of divorce in his latest contemporary novel, Not Easily Broken...Jakes pulls no punches as he explores the ramifications of allowing your love to grow cold and your heart to grow hard. -- "BookPage" This is the saga of a disparate couple struggling to save a marriage that seems doomed...The question arises whether either Dave or Clarice still care enough for each other to save their marriage. Tracey Leigh is an excellent reader; she makes each character individual and easily identifiable by voice and accent, and her portrayal of Clarice's mother is priceless. Though this isn't a pleasant book, it is a gripping portrayal of a marriage in trouble. Recommended; especially suitable for Christian fiction collections. -- "Library Journal (audio review)" While Bishop T. D. Jakes' novel is Christian fiction, it never sounds preachy. There are no sermons or long prayers or Bible passages. Tracey Leigh's well-modulated voice is a good fit as she skillfully moves between the narrative and dialogue. Her pleasant delivery brings the listener into the hearts and minds of the characters. -- "AudioFile"
