About the Book

"It was a dark winter day, and what with the shadows within, and what with the shadows without, he could but dimly discern the others who were brought there to have their arms bound. Some were standing; some seated. Some were lamenting, and in restless motion; but these were few. The great majority were silent and still, looking fixedly at the ground." - A Tale of Two Cities, Charles Dickens After eighteen years as a political prisoner in the Bastille, the aging Dr. Manette is finally released and reunited with his daughter in England. However, there he meets two very different men, connected through their love for Lucie Manette. From London, they are all drawn against their will to Paris at the height of the Reign of Terror and soon fall under the lethal shadow of La Guillotine. This e-book edition includes select, highly designed pages with quotes about the winter season. The Seasons Edition - Winter collection includes Little Women, Wuthering Heights, Pride and Prejudice, and A Tale of Two Cities.

About the Author :
Charles Dickens was born in 1812 near Portsmouth where his father was a clerk in the Navy pay office. The family moved to London in 1823, but their fortunes were severely impaired. Dickens was sent to work in a blacking-warehouse when his father was imprisoned for debt. Both experiences deeply affected the future novelist. In 1833 he began contributing stories to newspapers and magazines, and in 1836 started the serial publication of Pickwick Papers. He began Oliver Twist in 1837, followed by Nicholas Nickleby (1838) and The Old Curiosity Shop (1840-41). A Christmas Carol appeared in 1843, David Copperfield in 1850. In later works, such as Bleak House (1853) and Little Dorrit (1857), Dickens's social criticism became more radical and his comedy more savage. He published Hard Times in 1854, A Tale of Two Cities in 1859, and Great Expectations in 1860. His last novel, The Mystery of Edwin Drood, was never completed and he died on June 9, 1870.

A Thrilling But Totally Believable Murder Mystery

Read this in one evening. I had planned to do other things with my day, but it was impossible to put down. Every time I tried, I was drawn back to it in less than 5 minutes. I sobbed my eyes out the entire last 100 pages. Highly recommend!
