About the Book

Max Ride and her five friends grew up in a science lab/prison called the School. They were created as an experiment. An experiment where they ended up only 98 percent human. That other 2 percent had a big impact. These children are pretty special. But when an 'experiment' this secret and this special has escaped from the School, the scientists are pretty keen on making sure the world never finds out about them.Soon, Max and the other children find themselves on the run in an adventure beyond even their wildest dreams.

Review :
'The first in a series from adult-thriller writer Patterson has all the characteristics of his work for grown-ups: pace, action, mystery and cool... sharp and punchy with plenty of jokes and shocks. And it proves that girls can be tough, too.' -- The Sunday Times 20050703 'Patterson knows where our deepest fears are buried... There's no stopping his imagination.' -- New York Times Book Review 20050703 'Nonstop action carries this page-turner breathlessly from start to finish... Speed, suspense, excitement' Kirkus Reviews -- Kirkus Reviews 20050703 'MAXIMUM RIDE is a fast-paced, action-packed fantasy adventure that children will love' Age, Melbourne 4/6/05 -- Age, Melbourne 20050604 'This skilled and compulsive tale is so involved about kids being brave against the odds' The Sunday Times, 3/7/05 -- The Sunday Times 20050703 'A fast-moving, thrill-a-minutes, neo future adventure that pits good against evil in a most significant way... It's imaginative, it's exciting, it's touching - but it's also damn scary considering what some scientists are up to already.' -- The Northern Echo 20060425 'The characters are so well written that you'll really root for them. It's edge of your seat, thrilling stuff.' 5 Stars. -- Flipside 20060601
