About the Book

Physics of Surface, Interface and Cluster Catalysis reviews the fundamental physics of catalysis from simple surface models through to complex cluster and catalytic structures. It is the first book to provide a coherent collection of the physics of catalysis, and shows how physics has provided, and continues to provide, clarity and insight into many complex catalysis problems, reviewing both recent developments and prospects for future developments in the field. This book covers catalytic activity based on band structure, reaction dynamics at the surface and subsurface, reactions on magnetic and paramagnetic surfaces, electrocatalysis and kinetic Monte- Carlo frameworks, with contributions written by leading researchers from across the world.

Table of Contents:
Chapter 1: Introduction Chapter 2: Catalytic activity based on band structure Chapter 3: Reaction on magnetic surfaces and alloys Chapter 4: Physisorption on metals Chapter 5: Dynamics of metal surface and subsurface reaction Chapter 6: New kinetic monte carlo framework for complex catalytic reactions Chapter 7: Electrocatalysis: experimental and first-principles description of electric double layer

About the Author :
Prof. Hideaki Kasai is a renowned researcher in the field of condensed matter physics as exemplified by his excellent publications and years of international experience. His research studies in this field center on low-temperature physics with several pioneering works in strongly correlated systems, elementary excitations, reactions on surfaces and interfaces and nanomaterials.Dr Mary Clare Sison Escano is an awarded early career researcher. She pioneered research on magnetism in chemical reactions and biological systems at atomic level. Dr Escano is currently a tenure-track assistant professor at the University of Fukui, Japan. Prior to this, she received her PhD in 2012 from the Department of Applied Physics, Osaka University, Japan, where she investigated spin effects in surface reactions using first-principles methods. Dr Escaño was a Young Scientist Fellow of the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS) for three years. Even at a very early stage career, she has already published around 30 original articles in highly reputable journals. She also holds two masters degrees in both experimental physics and theoretical applied physics, making her adept to cross-disciplinary research.
