About the Book

The intention of this book is to introduce fibre reinforced composite materials to the educated reader who may have little or no previous knowledge of the subject. Beginning with the history of the subject and examples of such materials, this book discusses the various fibres in use and their individual properties, matrices, the micromechanics of reinforcement, laminate theory, composite manufacture and ceramic matrix composites. One chapter is devoted entirely to quality control of these matrials and non-destructive testing techniques.
