Review :
Mining old territory ... and doing it well ... The familiar names are all here ... but the net is cast much wider and there are a number of poets I haven't encountered before plus some excellent contributions from the editors themselves ... They want their book 'to bring the distant near, in friendship, and to make a brother or sister of the stranger.' A worthy aim, and one which to my mind definitely succeeds. - Carousel

[Has] that rattle bag quality ... one of the best uses of [this book] is to provide a variety of new models for students' own writing ... A wonderful resource ... Easy to dip into because of its sections based on family, animals, school, race and culture, festivals and so on. Its illustrations, by Kelly Waldeck, also make it ... pleasing ... to look at ... Provides a new tranche of poetry into which we can dip to confirm for ourselves, and for those we teach, that the Western traditions we are most often exposed to in no way define the limits of poetic experience. - Writing in Education

This eclectic collection of deceptively simple, lively and generally accessible poems ... brings a wide range of talent to the reader. ... An engagingly illustrated volume that seeks a wider compass than is sometimes found in such collections. ... I can see this book earning a valued place on the bookshelf of many a KS2 or KS3 teacher, and indeed becoming a much dipped
