About the Book

'Then I heard it: something swishing rhythmically towards me out of the blackness. Ever had that feeling of terror when you can't see what's coming but you know it might be your worst nightmare?' Strange lights in the night sky, people disappearing, a mysterious man calling himself Destiny ...Ram has run straight into another mystery. But the people who go missing are people no one will miss, except Ram and the dotty old woman who rescues him ...And the Dark Man finds Ram again - but how? Just when Ram thinks it is safe to run, he discovers another terrifying truth. Something that means he will never be safe again. Not him. Not anyone.

About the Author :
Catherine was born and brought up in Greenock in Scotland, where she still lives. She started off writing short stories for magazines and radio, as well as two romantic novels. She loves comedy and has had two comedy series on BBC Radio 2. She never even considered writing for children until something happened to her daughter, Katie, which sparked off her first novel for teenagers, Run Zan Run. It was published in 1994 and won the Kathleen Fidler Award for a first novel. Her second, Fighting Back was one of the first winners of the Scottish Children's Book Award in 1999. More recently, Roxy's Baby was the Bloomsbury book that appeared on the most award shortlists in 2006. It also made the longlist for the Carnegie Medal. Nemesis: Sinister Intent is Cathy's twenty-third book. She has been Chair of the Scottish Children's Writers and Illustrators, as well as a past President of the Scottish Association of Writers.
