About the Book

Fred the Croc is a different sort of crocodile; he likes to show off. But when the crowds get sick of his antics, he must think of something amazing and different to gain attention again

About the Author :
Matt Zurbo has never been eaten by a crocodile, and is pretty happy about it, too. He was once bitten by a snake, but that is just plain unimpressive compared to a crocodile. He is not formally trained in anything, which would explain his woeful spelling and bad table manners. He has been a harvester, comedian, factory worker, illustrator, box packer, barman and a bouncer, but never a foreman. He is quite proud of this, without knowing why. Matt grew up in the western suburbs and now lives in the Otway Ranges, re-vegetates temperate rain forest for a living, surfs really badly and has also never been eaten by a shark. He has a great dog called Bucket, which has also never been eaten by a crocodile or a shark. His previous books and awards are Idiot Pride (shortlisted CBCA Book of the Year, 1997; Victorian top 150 book list); Flyboy and the Invisible; Hot Nights Cool Dragons (shortlisted Aurealis awards); Blow, Kid, Blow (shortlisted for APA design awards); and I Got A Rocket (soon to be a cartoon series). Matt has also written for The Age and The Herald Sun and contributed numerous short stories to Australian Short Stories. Sarah Dunk works as a freelance illustrator for editorial, publishing (trade and educational) and institutional organisations, using digital and traditional techniques. She has a Diploma of Arts/Illustration and a BA in Graphic Design. She has drawn weekly submissions for The Green Guide and freelance illustrations and completed design/production work for The Oxford University Press, Explore Magazine, Drive, The Age, Australian Orthodontic Journal, Rehame Australia and Brown Prior Anderson. She has also taught Illustration, Electronic Design, Computer Graphics and Design Appreciation at RMIT, NMIT and VUT, St Albans. Sarah lives in Northcote, Melbourne.
