About the Book

Review :
'There are excellent pages on forgotten imitators of Ovid such as d’Alègre, Voisenon, and Gouge de Cessières, and three remarkable chapters on Gentil-Bernard, the most talented neo-Ovidian of his time. When dealing with him as well as less well-known contemporaries, Loubère quotes widely, allowing the reader to gain insights into the poems.' Modern Language Review
