About the Book

Storm of Joy is a children's book framed as a fairy tale of the ultimate love story - the love between a mother (the Queen) and her son (the Prince) as they journey through the unimaginable pain and separation caused by grief. The story is set in the magical kingdom of Dashan where all the people, plants and animals thrive under the loving support of their Queen - a queen who bestows her healing heartfelt energy onto the entire kingdom every day. The Queen's favor rests on her son, the Prince, who is an adventurous lad and a blessing to his friends and the entire kingdom. His fun loving energy is served up with a big smile that brings laughter and sunshine to all those in the kingdom. But the Prince also has a bit of a mischievous side as well. The kingdom of Dashan flourishes under the combined loving reign of the Queen coupled with the playful energies of the charming Prince until the fateful day when the Prince decides to expand his adventures and finds himself at the river. The river is a forbidden place for children in Dashan because it is not safe but the Prince's sense of adventure cannot be denied. While climbing and racing the other children up the steep banks of the river, the Prince falls and tumbles to his untimely death. Although the Queen races to the Prince's side, begs the Creator to save him and pours her loving heartfelt energy into the Prince, the Prince never opens his eyes again. The Queen's heart is broken. All of the people of Dashan feel the Queen's sadness. They worry about their Queen but they didn't know how to help. With each passing day, the sadness around the Queen grows and grows until eventually a dark cloud forms over the Queen and the entire kingdom. The Queen continues to go through the motions of her life, but without the Prince, she has lost her love for life. The kingdom of Dashan suffers as well. The Queen prays to the Creator every day and asks for only two things. First, the Queen wants to know if the Prince is okay, wherever he is. Second, the Queen asks the Creator to show her a way to communicate again with the Prince. Each day that passes without her prayers answered, the Queen becomes sadder and sadder until the day she finally demands to know if the Prince is really with her. It's that moment when the Prince breaks through the cloud of sadness and asks the Queen to dance with him. The Queen is shocked and amazed as she feels the Prince's energy in new ways through her heart instead of her eyes. The Queen and the Prince dance and dance and dance healing the Queen's broken heart. The kingdom rejoices the return of the Prince. The Queen and the Prince begin to work together to make the kingdom of Dashan better than before. They do it in a new way, though their faith in a loving Creator that sends them miracles every day. Storm of Joy is a story of the Queen's divine connection that trumped the illusion of separation caused by the death of the Prince. It is the very best of a fairy tale with a happy ending but it also reminds us to keep the faith and ask for our own miracles everyday...anyway...anyhow...anywhere.
