About the Book

"The Mezzatestas, David Alexander's fictitious crime family in The King of West Brooklyn, are the new Corleones." -- USA Today. "If mob-related hits haven't already put Gravesend, the crime capital of West Brooklyn, on the map, The King of West Brooklyn is destined to do so." -- Daily News. The King of West Brooklyn is a crime novel that begins and ends on the mean streets of Gravesend, the toughest neighborhood of New York City's toughest borough. It's a place where organized crime still rules and where wise guys have to think fast, hit hard or get whacked. In between, the novel crosses international boundaries and time zones with the speed of a bullet fired from a gun as West Brooklyn's most accomplished safe and loft burglar takes on a tricky European job in order to pay back the markers held on him by boss of bosses Tony the Pug. Dominick "Dee" de Venise's textile warehouse has been in the family for generations, but he'll have to torch it for the insurance money. De Venise has no other choice. The Mezzatesta family is into him for boo-koo bucks and if he doesn't pay off, he's history. The only other option de Venise has is to stage a big-money heist planned by his crooked lawyer friend Arnie, but he's already turned down that particular deal. Arnie's plan is too risky, and besides, de Venise has known Arnie long enough and well enough not to trust him. De Venise doesn't trust anyone to torch the business either. Wanting it done right, he plans to do it himself, then set up an ironclad alibi. Everything goes like clockwork until the insurance company refuses to pay off on de Venise's policy, leaving him with no business and no money to buy off his wise guy creditors. With no more cards to play de Venise agrees to do the heist for Arnie. If nothing else, it will get him out of the country, and if de Venise is really lucky and really smart, there's even an outside chance of him scoring the bucks he needs to get him straight with the mob and put him back in action as the King of West Brooklyn. This is a caper novel to end all caper novels, an addictive page-turner from start to finish, and one of author David Alexander's most ambitious fiction efforts yet. Dominick "Dee" de Venise's textile warehouse has been in the family for generations, but he'll have to torch it for the insurance money. De Venise has no other choice. If nothing else, it will get him out of the country, and if de Venise is really lucky and really smart, there's even an outside chance of him scoring the bucks he needs to get him straight with the mob and put him back in action as the King of West Brooklyn.

About the Author :
David Alexander is a USA Today and New York Times bestselling author whose books have sold over five million copies. He is a graduate of Columbia University and Paris Sorbonne. David Alexander's novels and nonfiction titles have won critical acclaim from USA Today, The New York Times, The London Times, The Los Angeles Times, Publishers Weekly, The Wall Street Journal and many other venues in the US, UK, Canada and Australia. His prizewinning thriller, Threatcon Delta: Assault on the Pentagon, reached first place on numerous bestseller lists including those of The New York Times and USA Today. The Times called Threatcon Delta, ... surely one of the best technothrillers to come along in a great while. USA Today also praised the thriller, declaring, Alexander once again turns newspaper headlines into riveting high-tech military action fiction with that special combination of cinematic thrills and chills and fly-on-the-wall accounts of back room crisis management in the making ... Dubbed an Ian Fleming for the 21st Century by one reviewer, David Alexander has written and published in virtually every literary category, including novels, novelettes, short fiction, poetry, essays and film scripts. Investigative journalism, technical writing on defense-related subjects and short fiction over Alexander's byline have appeared in US and international periodicals that have ranged from the glossy pages of Penthouse Magazine to the more sober leaves of the global defense journal Military Technology. His books and shorter writings have been translated into seven languages, including Italian, German and Japanese. Alexander is an inveterate traveler and among the alumni of literary passengers to have boarded the Orient-Express; he has often used it as a basis for plot and reportage. Unlike the authors who have sold out, who are as interchangeable as cogs in a wheel, author David Alexander prefers to throw away the rule book whenever possible. Each new novel he pens must challenge him and must present a story told powerfully, yet freshly and originally. Each effort must compel him to deliver the best he has to offer.

Review :
CRIME DOES PAY. THE KING OF WEST BROOKLYN SCORES! "Bestseller! Bestseller! Bestseller! The word should be shouted at least three times as a kind of Brooklyn cheer, because David Alexander's crime thriller The King of West Brooklyn has "Bestseller!" written all over it." -- NY Daily News "The Mezzatestas, David Alexander's fictitious crime family in The King of West Brooklyn, are the new Corleones." -- USA Today. "If mob-related hits haven't already put Gravesend, the crime capital of West Brooklyn, on the map, The King of West Brooklyn is destined to do so." -- Daily News. "Today Brooklyn, tomorrow the world ... David Alexander has the names of two conquering heroes and The King of West Brooklyn is world-class ... a thriller with style, guts and endless quantities of Brooklyn chutzpah applied as thickly as mozzarella cheese on a Brooklyn pizza. Alexander is an author who is going places. Hopefully one of them is not jail, as some of the criminal capers described in the novel read almost like he was taking notes at the scene of the crime." -- L.A. Times "If mob-related hits haven't already put Gravesend, the crime capital of West Brooklyn, on the map, The King of West Brooklyn is destined to do so." -- Daily News "If James Bond wore athletic shirts, spoke with a Brooklyn accent and drove a candy apple-red 1973 Plymouth Barracuda, he'd be Dominick de Venise, the edgy protagonist of David Alexander's smashing crime thriller The King of West Brooklyn." -- Kirkus Reviews
