About the Book

Dan's writing has always dealt with history, the pursuit of happiness and truth, philosophy, love, war, the future, of politics, dreams or nightmares and the great issues of the human condition which call through his heart, mind and soul. This collection was put together for a reason - for just cause. He has long spoken of "the problem" - the human community of this world is not progressing in a positive, healthy direction, overall. It can be said that humanity is devouring itself as well as the world upon which it should be thriving. Because much of our troubles are human made, it is time for corrective measures, reconciliation, restitution and a redress of grievances great and small. Some poems illuminate what we, as a people, a global community, stand to win should we make the changes needed, "Good News." Others portray issues, "Faux News" or the consequences of inaction, "Gone." and "Long After Time." In the concluding section, "Beating Around the Bush," Dan models how "We, the people ..." can impact anyone of our 1% with a set of suggestions applicable to the royal foil, Mr. G. W. Bush. Dan only speaks for his own nation's role in "the problem" knowing few peoples are innocent and that everyone can gain from true change.

About the Author :
Dan likes to say, "I love writing; it's great fun, good for the heart, mind, and health. I'm fascinated by how words fit together, chime, rhyme and flow from one to the next. I write because I cannot be silent; how could one be in this world? I've a theory: the right set of words, presented in the right setting is one of the ways civilization evolves. I ever improve my craft and seek such words so, should the opportunity arise, I'll present that which may transform my life and or the lives of others."Dan was born in New York City, New York in 1952. When his father died in 1960, his mother decided to return to California. She managed to raise seven children and do well despite trying circumstances. Dan was the first of his family to complete a college education. He graduated from San Francisco State University in 1975 with a degree in Sociology and in 1985 went back to obtain an elementary teacher's credential. He began teaching in 1987 and for a while writing was set aside. He married in 1989 and soon the muse moved again as he began a return to writing. Science fiction, being a long time fascination, was where he began. During that time, he also made a return to writing and performing poetry in San Francisco's open mic scene, notably at Sacred Grounds Café, where his is the current curator. He's had poetry published in magazines and presented a number of readings in the Bay Area. Although, at first, his readings consisted mostly of haiku, he experienced a rekindled interest in lyric poetry. Most recently he has published three collections of poetry, the completion of two Science fiction manuscripts for young adults, and several children's book manuscripts.

Review :

I have none at this time but the collection has some of the most well received, crowd pleasing pieces, as well as those addressing the powers that be, those at the time, the George W. Bush administration, as well as vital issues of that time, the questions about 9/11, the Iraq invasion, the GWOT, the politics of food, ignorance, and corruption. Enjoy the tour!
