Steemjammer Book 2: The Deeper Truth

Fifteen-year-old Will Steemjammer feels like he has to find out, or he risks losing his goot steem - or worse. When their parents disappeared, Will, his sister Angelica, and cousin Giselle, began looking for answers in their house on Old Earth. They found a hidden room filled with arcane steam-powered machinery capable of opening verltgaats or world holes to another place called Beverkenverlt. Also, they learned that eleven years earlier, their once-powerful family lost a major battle to their rivals, the Rasmussens, and had to flee to Old Earth in exile to survive. Ever since, their parents had been working in secret to return and recover what had been taken from them and save Beverkenverlt from the treachery and control of the Rasmussens. But now the Steemjammer kids find themselves so deeply embroiled in the conflict that even finding their missing parents has taken a back seat to saving themselves by finding their way back to old earth where they are safe from the Rasmussens. Will narrowly escaped them once, and now, unaware of his real identity, they think he's working for them. It's a once-in-a-lifetime chance to get back, or so his allies say. But it will mean more lying and deceiving, which are things Will still finds difficult to do. His whole life he was taught not to lie and to seek deeper truth, but how will this save him when the Rasmussens are closing in on an object that will give them the power to open their own verltgaats and threaten not only Beverkenverlt, but Old Earth as well? ABOUT THE AUTHOR Born in Houston, Texas, John Eubank graduated from Rice University and embarked on a writing career in Los Angeles. He's sold a number of original screenplays, has been hired to write or revise other projects, and has worked in television. An avid member of the maker movement, he regularly participates in conventions where he demonstrates and tries to advance the maker cause. He advocates for families struggling with autism and has written a book with his autistic son, Thomas Stopped Talking, which discusses what it was like recovering speech and figuring out a way for a child with autism to learn to thrive in a neurotypical world without compromising his identity (soon to be published).
