About the Book

"And as Esaias said before, Except the Lord of Hosts had left us a seed..." Romans 9:29 "Truth Is Mighty; And, It Shall Prevail": African Hebrews Were Among America's Chattel Slaves. Why is the Israelite theme so prevalent in the American Negro Spirituals? Could it have anything to do with the Hebrew captives who were brought from Africa to America during the Trans-Atlantic Slave Trade? Tap the "Add To Cart" button to place your secure order. Receive your copy within days; and, ponder this question with me. Read on... This is Melek Heru (Bringin' It True!), Host of The Kinsman on Talktainment Radio. From the 17th-19th centuries, America had a peculiar, unprecedented, brutal system of unpaid labor known as Chattel Slavery. Chattel Slavery was race-based; the diverse captive laborers were primarily of Central and West African descent. Many of those Africans were Hebrews. The slave owners, for the most part, were elite White Men. In cold-blooded legal terms, the Chattel Slave was classified as animal property, subject to being bought, sold, rented-out, and disposed of, at-will. The slave owner exercised absolute authority over the poor Chattel Slave's life, liberty, labor, and offspring. America's captives were callously subjected to physical--and mental--trauma, and gross sexual abuse, as a normal way of life. In those pale, and frightful, days of The Great Tribulation, many of America's Chattel Slaves immersed themselves in the story of the Hebrew Captivity that is told in The Holy Bible's Book of Exodus. They fervently believed that the Great God of the Hebrews, personified in Mighty King Jesus, would someday intervene on their behalf. With the coming of Emancipation in 1865, after 246 years of bitter bondage, they believed that The Lord did Reveal His Arm to free them; and, they celebrated as had no other People in the History of the World. Today it is commonly thought that Black America's Israelite folk tradition is mere symbolism derived from the similarity between the People's experience of slavery and that of the Hebrews in the Bible Story. But, with Hebrews from Africa in their midst, did America's inspired captives have a deeper reason? Here are a few things that readers have said in response to Go Down, Moses! A Hebrew Mystery: "Good Job...I'm inspired!" - Dr. Irving Smith, Retired Pastor and Professor Methodist Theological Seminary of Ohio "Very informative." - Dr. Dorothy Curry, Retired Special Education Professor Philander Smith College "This is deep." - Rev. Dr. Sokoto Fulani, Pastor Hilltop United Methodist Church Columbus, Ohio "Well-written." - Dr. Joseph P. McCormick 2nd, Political Scientist and Retired Administrator Howard University & University of Pennsylvania "Outstanding!" - Barbara Beckwith, Retired Teacher Columbus Public Schools Columbus, Ohio "This is a very well-put-together book." - Larry Williamson, Director The Frank W. Hale, Jr. Black Cultural Center, The Ohio State University "This is an important piece of writing." - Chili Most, Peace Activist/Musician/Talk Radio Host The Chili Most Show, WVFG 107.5FM, Demopolis, Alabama "Thought-Provoking...Excellent." - Avery Dunn, U. S. Naval Officer Jacksonville, Florida "Impressive!" - Nathan Leviticus Neal, Award-Winning Author The Alaskan "Midnight Sun" Ko Olina Hi, Hawaii I invite you to take a glimpse beyond the veil of the American Negro-Israelite folk tradition. You are guaranteed to be enlightened, inspired, and intrigued, by my revelation of Black America's prophetic past and by my Biblical solution for a better tomorrow. This book is a must-read for Survivors of American Chattel Slavery; and, it's a great read for all who are interested in feeding their heart, soul, and mind. Theologians, Clergy, Seminary Students, and Lay People, alike, will find this book engaging. About the Author :
"Give ear, O my people, to my law: incline your ears to the words of my mouth." Psalm 78:1 Heru Bar-Chanan (Melek Heru) is the Prince and Priest of The Holy Zawadi Nation: 'A Loving, Caring, Sharing, People, Striving To Be A Light Unto The World.' Bar-Chanan (pronounced: bar-KAH-nun, meaning 'Son of Christ') was born in Anchorage, Alaska, in August of 1964, to a Military family, christened Horace Columbus Neal II, and raised in Columbus, Ohio. He is a paternal descendant of Nat Turner (1800-1831), the Prophet who led the most devastating Slave Revolt in American History. One of his maternal Great-Grandfathers is Professor John Roland McCormick, Esq. (1878-1959), of Washington, D.C., who integrated the U. S. Department of The Interior. He is also a second-cousin of the late actress Rosalind Cash (1938-1995). In 1989, Bar-Chanan was created Khalfan Ben-Horus, the Prince Initiate of the Priesthood of The Holy Zawadi Nation. Khalfan Ben-Horus is a priestly cryptonym that means, among several things, 'Destined To Reign, Son of The Light of The World.' Bar-Chanan attended The Ohio State University from which he received a Master of Arts Degree in Humanities/Black Studies (Khalfan Ben-Horus, 1995). In 1991, he produced, and co-hosted, the popular live talk radio show, Free Your Mind, featuring The New Jack Scholars, on, then, 106.3FM (Columbus). He was also an editorial contributor to the groundbreaking Film Studies book Straight Lick: The Cinema of Oscar Micheaux, by J. Ronald Green (University of Indiana Press, 2000). From 2000-2010, Horace Columbus Neal II was an Adjunct Professor in the Humanities Department at Columbus State Community College. There he taught courses in American Civilization, African-American History, and African Literature. As Melek Heru, Bar-Chanan currently hosts a weekly, hour-long, internet radio talk show titled, The Kinsman, which addresses the experience of Survivors of American Chattel Slavery in its various dimensions and nuances--past, present, and future. The Kinsman offers 'Intelligent Conversation With A touch of Inspiration' Wednesdays from 6-7pm EST on Talktainmentradio.com. Free podcasts are available 24/7.
