About the Book

In 1989, the German Democratic Republic was an autocratic state led by the Communist Party. Over the following year the political system of East Germany culminated in GDR's "accession" to the Federal Republic itself. Yet the end of Germany's division evoked its own new and very bitter constitutional problems. This work discusses these issues.
