About the Book

When Claire Lucas is woken by her husband asking where their baby son is, she is dazed and confused. She follows Darren into their child’s bedroom, hearing nothing but silence. No baby cries, no cute gurgles. The only thing left in Finlay’s cot is his beloved teddy bear. Detective Jessie Blake rushes to the family’s home in the rugged Scottish Highlands. She notices that Darren avoids eye contact and Claire seems disconnected – unable to account for the last few hours of her afternoon. Jessie knows there’s no normal response to losing a child, but something doesn’t feel right. Friends rally around the young family, as a search of the narrow lanes and green hills of Moncrieffe begins in earnest. And as helpers battle the wild Scottish weather, Jessie is sure that someone in the search party must know more than they’re letting on. Someone must have seen something. As a ghost from her own past comes back to haunt her, Jessie must put aside her own personal tragedy to save baby Finlay. Can she get the people of the small town to talk before it’s too late?

About the Author :
A proud Perthshire lass and daughter of her school's favourite dinner lady, Scottish author Kerry Watts has been an avid reader since childhood. She started writing crime fiction thirty years ago and has enjoyed every minute. Her popular crime series include the Detective Hazel Todd series, the DI Joe Barker series, the Detective Jessie Blake series and the Detective Fraser Brodie series. Watts lives in a small village with her husband, son and a rescue dog named Buddy and has an unashamed passion for horse racing. Gillian Hay is a Scottish actress and voice artist who trained at the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School. Some of Gillian’s theatre credits include Richard III, Heavy Lies the Head that Wears the Crown, The Importance of Being Earnest and A Midsummer Night’s Dream – in which she played both the fairy king Oberon and the mortal queen Hippolyta. Gillian has also lent her voice to commercials, video games and audiobooks where she enjoys the challenge of creating multiple unique character voices.
