Matt Browne; Queensland, Australia; 'Initially I read the first chapter of 'Fairyland' out of curiosity and thought, its actually very good considering it is aimed at middle-grade. Four days later... I almost finished reading it. I must say, as soon as I read about Fred, the talking book, it came to mind the novel should be sent to a company overseas who produce animated films precisely like the subject of this book ... fairies, talking books, mermaids, living trees, pirates and talking parrots (Jimabi). I have since read the story a second time. It's well written, with plenty of twists and turns. I was particularly interested in Ivan and Jimabi's adventures; the reference to Anne Bonny the pirate, and I especially liked the illustration on page 420.' - Tim Lennon, Songbird Films; Queensland Australia.
