About the Book

This is the story of his deliverance from manic depression (known today as bipolar). The story is set back in the early 1970s and chronicles what the hippie culture was like. David knows that he would not be alive today without an understanding of God's Word, the Bible. He could have easily taken his life without it. Psalm 107:20 He [God] sent his word, and healed them, and delivered them from their destructions. Psalms 103:2-4 Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits: Who forgiveth all thine inquities, who healeth all the diseases; Who redeemeth ahy life from destruction; who healeth all thy diseases;

Review :
"I cracked open A Higher Calling expecting to get a chapter or two done as I was rounding out my evening. Chapter after chapter I chose to continue reading, as the story and characters were drawing me further in. The narrative was compelling and I wanted to see the story unfold. This book does not shy away from the darkness or dangers present in our lives, but rather contrasts that darkness with the light God can heal with." "Well written, engaging and very inspiring! The common thread was God's hand of protection on Dave's life through very tough situations until he could get to where he heard the depth of the scriptures and how to apply them, which he did in a tremendous way! It reminded me how much God loves me!" "I found that I could not lay down David Weekley's book, A Higher Calling. From the very first page, I was drawn into the story. I felt like I was right there with him as I read through the book. This book is a must-read for those who love to see deliverance and victory against all odds." "Half the time my eyes were bugging out of my head! Seems like the adversary sure wanted you dead! I'm so glad God had other plans!"
