About the Book

“I was enthralled from the very first chapter all the way through to the gut-clenching twists. Trisha Sakhlecha is a supremely gifted storyteller.”—Sarah Pekkanen Most family reunions end in tears. This one will end in murder. Meet the Agarwals, who have gathered on a private, luxury island off the west coast of Scotland for a much-anticipated family reunion. Raj, the patriarch and a business tycoon, is about to announce to his wife and three children the succession plan for his multimillon-dollar Delhi-based company. Shalini, the fragile matriarch, is ready to have her husband to herself after years of sacrifice to the family business. Myra, the golden child, owner of the island and host of the reunion, is, unbeknownst to her family, on the brink of bankruptcy. Aseem, the son and supposed heir, is torn between his love for his wife and his duty to family. Aisha, the youngest, a party girl whose antics are legendary, can’t pass up an opportunity to wreak havoc. And then there’s Zoe, Aseem’s wife, the outsider whose #InstaPerfect life is built on a foundation of lies. They’ve all got secrets they would die to protect. Who will survive this high-stakes reunion, and who will become a victim of their own greed? One thing is certain: this family gathering will shatter more than just their illusions of unity.

Review :
Praise for The Inheritance: “Insanely readable with a brilliant setting and characters that jump off the page. I absolutely loved The Inheritance!” —Lisa Jewell, #1 New York Times bestselling author of None of This Is True “I was enthralled from the very first chapter all the way through to the gut-clenching twists. Trisha Sakhlecha is a supremely gifted storyteller.” —Sarah Pekkanen, #1 New York Times bestselling author of House of Glass “A peek behind the velvet curtain of extreme wealth and privilege, Sakhlecha’s glamorous thriller portrays a dysfunctional family doing despicable things in the name of love.” —The Washington Post “What do you get when you pair a wealthy Delhi business owner on the verge of retirement, his three troubled kids, and a remote island? A high-stakes game of greed, of course! . . . Like Succession meets Knives Out, or in other words, an absolute page-turner.” —Marie Claire “Agatha Christie meets Succession . . . dark secrets turn [a family’s] reunion into a high-stakes game of survival.” —Entertainment Weekly “With echoes of the TV dramas Succession and The White Lotus, but also of Agatha Christie and The Traitors. . . . Sakhlecha displays a Christie-like knack for misdirection.” —The Sunday Times (London) “A superrich family gathers on a private island to discuss the succession plan for the patriarch's behemoth business? Sign us up. This debut novel from diplomat-turned-author Trisha Sakhlecha follows the absolutely loaded and deeply damaged clan as the truth about their futures and fortunes become painstakingly clear—and not all of them make it out alive.” —Town & Country “There are shades of Succession in the story of the stupendously rich Agarwal family. . . [This] novel is a heady broth of secrets and lies; [Sakhlecha] expertly rachets up the tension as anger and resentment simmering below the polite surface gradually come to a head and result in murder.” —The Guardian “Sakhlecha’s propulsive debut reads a bit like Succession, if it was a locked room mystery set on a terrifyingly remote island.” —CrimeReads “Propulsive. . . a slow-burning, multilayered and brooding story.” —Woman & Home “With its masterful plotting, gorgeous setting, and diverse cast of characters I could relate to and root for, The Inheritance had me turning the pages at warp speed all the way to its stunning conclusion. You know a book is good when you wish you'd written it!” —Karen Dionne, #1 internationally bestselling author of The Marsh King's Daughter “Deliciously dark with chilling characters and a brilliant setting. This is a pacy, page-turning thriller.” —Sarah Pearse, New York Times bestselling author of The Sanatorium “Masterful, gripping and unpredictable—this murder mystery will have you on the edge of your seat.” —Sophie Hannah, New York Times bestselling author of The Monogram Murders “Menacing, smart, and absorbing, The Inheritance unwraps surprises through to its final line. You'll love being the guest of this irresistible, tangled family.” —Flynn Berry, New York Times bestselling author of Northern Spy “And there we have it, every single thing I love in a novel. The Inheritance boasts the ultimate trifecta: a wealthy family, a luxurious remote location. . . and a body. Everyone in this family has a motive for murder in this propulsive novel about a family succession announcement gone awry. With this novel, Sakhlecha earns her place on the shelf among the heavy hitting thriller writers.” —Sally Hepworth, New York Times bestselling author of The Mother-in-Law “With the kind of privileged family drama that rivals Succession, The Inheritance gives us masterful storytelling, deliciously suspicious characters, and affecting emotional depth. This is dark and twisty suspense exquisitely done, right to the breathtaking final line.” —Ashley Audrain, New York Times bestselling author of The Push “Original, compelling, truly absorbing and utterly unputdownable. With masterful storytelling, this is crime fiction at its very best.” —Andrea Mara, #1 international bestselling author of Someone in the Attic “Both a propulsive mystery and a layered portrait of familial love and dysfunction, The Inheritance is a story of privilege and buried secrets that's impossible to put down.” —Tracy Sierra, author of Nightwatching “Tense, atmospheric. I couldn’t put it down and WOW – the ending!” —Ruth Mancini, author of The Woman on the Ledge
