About the Book

Seventy years in the future, the diet industry remains the most powerful branch of the federal government. The rights of fat citizens have been eliminated, and the rebellion has begun. FATIZEN: The Graphic Novel, Part Two is an adaptation of the 2015 prose novel Fatizen 24602 by author Philip Barragan, published by Branch Hill Publications. The story is beautifully illustrated by artist Mason Arrigo and colored by graphic artist Chris Link. FATIZEN is an exploration into the systematic dehumanization of people. Whether it be our nationality, sexual orientation, color of our skin, or the size of our bodies, societies have leveraged attacks on their fellow citizens throughout civilization. The "othering" of our fellow humans has led to some of our darkest periods in history, and continues today. FATIZEN shows one family's journey, and how they stand up for their rights and inspire courage, hope, and a revolution. Join brothers Mark and Kevin on their adventure and experience the tenacious human spirit that perseveres in the face of unrelenting adversity.

About the Author :
Philip Barragan grew up in the San Fernando Valley, the not-so-sleepy suburb of Los Angeles. Philip devoted much of his life providing social services to the disenfranchised, including runway and homeless youth on the streets of Hollywood. Spending his days at the County Health Department, Philip works towards healthcare for all. Philip completed his Master of Fine Arts in Creating Writing from Antioch University Los Angeles in 2011. Philip's debut dystopian novel, Fatizen 24602, was published by Branch Hill Publications in 2015 and is the basis for the Fatizen, The Graphic Novel, released in July 2017. Philip established a small imprint, Embonpoint Publishing, with his husband, illustrator Mason Arrigo, in early 2017 to publish a series of graphic novels: Fatizen and Blanc Noir: Marabou Mule Mysteries. Philip lives with his husband in Long Beach, California and is working on a collection of nonfiction essays and other graphic novels. You can learn more about Philip at embonpointpublishing.com. Mason Arrigo is the artist and creator of Blank Noir and illustrator for Fatizen, The Graphic Novel. Mason was born and raised in Lockport, New York. Mason's childhood was spent buried in comic books. Inspired by D.C. & Marvel illustrators as well as Creepy, Eerie and Vampirella comics, Mason learned to draw at a very young age. He continued his craft while pursuing a career in make-up artistry in Chicago and Florida. Mason is now working full time as Artistic Director at Embonpoint Publishing working on several upcoming graphic novels. You can learn more about Mason at embonpointpublishing.com or Instagram at @MasonIllustration. Chris Link is a talented artist and graphic designer in Los Angeles.
