About the Book

Those Days...Those Days You Could Not Go to School is a rhyming Christian children's book and was written by Carrie Bryant-Render, who is the Director at Holy Cross Early Learning Center in Mahwah, New Jersey. She wrote the book because many of the parents at her school emailed her or commented on their Facebook page about how much their children missed their teachers, friends and coming to preschool during the 2020 Corona virus Pandemic. Ms. Carrie wanted to share a little sunshine with families and students while we are not able to physically attend school and be together. She hopes it will help them cope with the many emotions the youngsters have been feeling since we have had to mostly "Stay at home". Ms. Carrie's middle son, Luke Render, a ten year old 4th grader from Oakland, New Jersey, helped her with the illustrations of the book. Luke loves to draw and create things, so this was a fun project for them to work on together. The book could also serve as a tool for parents of young children who, in the future, might be missing school for an extended period of time due to an illness, family emergency, surgery, and so on. Ms. Carrie and Luke both hope that you all enjoy this rhyming book for youngsters during such trying times.

About the Author :
Carrie Bryant-Render considers it a blessing to be the School Director at Holy Cross Early Learning Center in Mahwah, New Jersey since 2014. Like many of her co-workers, she started as a parent at the school and quickly realized that it was not only a wonderful place to teach her own children, but a remarkable place to work with awesome people. Carrie is a single mom of 3 children currently between the ages of 8 and 15. Her children are Madison, Luke and Kolton. Carrie obtained her Bachelor of Science degree in Business and Finance from Mt. St. Mary's College in Emmitsburg, Maryland. Upon graduation, she moved to Tampa, Florida where she owned and directed Accent on Dance for five years. More recently she was the Owner/Founder and former Artistic Director of Showtime Dance Company based in Orange County/Southern California prior to moving to Mahwah, NJ in 2008. She is a member of the Bettie Jane Cancer Foundation, which was founded by her mother, Bettie Jane Bryant, who is a breast cancer survivor. Carrie was born and raised in Frederick, Maryland to Jim and Bettie Jane Bryant. She continues to be active with her mom's dance studio, Bettie Jane's Center of Dance Art, which is celebrating it's 60th year in business. She is a proud daughter, mom, sister, aunt, niece, cousin and friend to her family scattered all across the USA. Carrie feels super blessed to be a part of her Holy Cross family and she truly believes in the importance of teaching young children in a fun, loving and Christ centered environment. Luke M. Render is a ten year old fourth grader in Oakland, New Jersey. Luke is a quiet, friendly kid who loves to draw, create and build things. He was very excited to work with his mom on this project while staying at home during the Corona Virus Pandemic 2020 which caused no school, social distancing, and distance learning for many students across the country. Luke likes to play board games, logic and trivia games, Minecraft, Fortnite, and Chess. He is also a fan of Harry Potter and he spends time creating things with his 3D pen. Luke is a runner, and he keeps busy with tennis and basketball as his afterschool activities.
