Review :
'Dynamic Induction not only makes a strong case for the importance of a comprehensive induction program, it also provides a treasure trove of ideas on how to do it effectively. The author's grasp of sound learning theory translates into a book full of checklists, exercises and games to promote skill building and ensure effective induction. It transforms training into learning and, best of all, shows that learning can be fun. This practical, creative book belongs on every trainer's bookshelf - not just as a guide for induction programs, but as a valuable collection of interactive learning exercises.' Susan Gastony, Indiana University, USA 'This book is a very useful and instructive book ... (it) is dynamic, it is an accumulation of the experience, and learning, about induction the Susan El-Shamy has built up during her 20 years as a training professional. It is an invaluable addition to any trainer's bookshelf. It will enable trainers to develop their own dynamic induction processes, by choosing the appropriate games and activities to meet the needs of their organisations and new recruits.' Institute of Training and Occupational Learning, Nov. 2003 ' I can recommend this book to anyone considering planning induction programmes, experienced trainers who are seeking new approaches or different activities within their active approaches, and managers without trainer back-up who will find the activities in many cases are almost stand-alone and can be used directly. Ratings: Innovation **** Content **** Clarity ***** Overall recommendation **** Value for money ****' Training Journal, Nov. 2003 'Overall, the book is immensely informative and instructive and can be described as a compendium on induction containing a straightforward how-to agenda. ... The prescriptions in the book, if followed, will help in the direction of improving communication and cohesiveness. It impressed me immensely, as it contains a very rich source of ideas on induction. I read it from cover to cover and enjoyed doing so. The author has succeeded very well in ensuring that the book reflects a keen sense of professionalism and purposiveness in the whole process of induction. I should think that every trainer will benefit from it, not just those who are involved in induction process and induction training.' Indian Journal of Industrial Relations 'It contains a tremendously useful agenda for proactive induction of the new employee in the organisational environment. ...the author has very imaginatively designed the assessments, quizzes, charts and checklists to make induction a happening thing. ...One cannot help but read it from cover to cover and enjoy doing so. ...every trainer will benefit from the book, not just those who are involved in induction and induction training.' Indian Journal of Industrial Relations - Feb 2004
