The 66 papers, including 8 invited papers, in this volume concentrate on the latest developments in bioceramics materials. Important aspects of materials preparation and characterization, and processing methods, are examined. Bioinert ceramics, surface reactive ceramics and resorbable ceramics are reviewed in detail for both bulk and composite form including inorganic particulate, fiber and whisker reinforcement, and as films and coatings. The important subject of material-tissue interaction is also examined.
