About the Book

Natural Compounds and Polymer Blends in Wound Healing Applications explores the integration of diverse multifunctional natural compounds into polymer-based materials. Early chapters introduce natural polymers and their blends, and present the unique physicochemical characteristics and biological activities of these materials. A range of naturally-derived compounds is assessed, including peptides, phenolic compounds, carotenoids, flavonoids, plant extracts, and carbon additives. The sustainable benefits of these natural compounds and polymeric materials is emphasized, with a detailed review of recent patents, commercial products, and the challenges and opportunities in the field. Natural Compounds and Polymer Blends in Wound Healing Applications is a valuable resource for academics and researchers in the fields of materials science, biomaterials, pharmaceutical sciences, and medicinal chemistry.

Table of Contents:
Section I. Polymers in Medicine 1. Natural Polymers 2. Blends with Biopolymers Section II. Natural Derived Additives 3. Peptides and Amino Acids in Polymeric Materials for Wound Healing 4. Phenolic Compounds and Polymeric Materials for Wound Healing 5. Carotenoids and Polymeric Materials for Wound Healing 6. Flavonoids and Polymeric Materials for Wound Healing 7.
