About the Book

Researchers use brain organoids to study the formation of neural tissues, investigate the processes involved in brain development, and gain a better understanding of neurological disorders and diseases. Brain organoids are particularly useful in studying developmental disorders, neurodegenerative diseases, and infectious diseases that affect the brain. Fundamental of Brain Organoids for Neurological Diseases provides a practical resource for researchers on how to utilize and apply brain organoids. This book is organized into nine distinct sections, guiding the reader through each step from advanced overview of what organoids are to the use of brain organoids in various neurodevelopmental disorders and neurodegenerative diseases. In later sections, this book reviews the necessary methods involved in organoid development including the elements and challenges involved. This book will serve as a valuable tool for researchers, helping to advance the understanding of brain biology and disease mechanisms.

Table of Contents:
Section I An overview about Organoids 1. An overview on organoids - Past, present and future scenario of organoids Section II Neurodevelopmental disorder 2. A brief introduction about neurodevelopmental disorders 3. Use of brain organoids for autism 4. Role of brain organoids in Rett Syndrome 5. Brain organoids in bipolar disorder: Unraveling mechanisms and therapeutic approaches 6. Ongoing clinical trials on use of brain organoids for neurodevelopmental disorders Section III Neurodegenerative diseases 7. An overview of Neurodegenerative diseases 8. Use of brain organoids for Parkinson’s disease and Alzheimer’s disease 9. Application of brain organoids in Huntington’s disease 10. Ongoing clinical trials on use of brain organoids for neurodegenerative diseases (Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease, Huntington’s disease, etc.) Section IV Methods involved in organoids development 11. How human-induced pluripotent stem cells are derived into organoids 12. Elements required and days involved in organoid generation Section V – Application and advancement of Brain organoids 13. Brain organoids – Challenges while constructing organoids 14. Existing drug targeting and research using brain organoids Section VI - Ethical consideration while conducting organoids research 15. Ethical consideration while conducting organoids research Section VII - Future perspective and concluding remarks 16. Future directions and conclusion

About the Author :
Dr. Balachandar Vellingiri mainly works on neurological diseases and analyzing its genetic impact. He is working on various neurological diseases to investigate the molecular mechanism and developing human induced pluripotent stem cells (HiPSCs), and generating patient-derived Brain organoids as a promising disease model for various neurological diseases because understanding the inside mechanism of neurological diseases is always a difficult task. Exploring the cutting-edge molecular, cellular, and translational neuroscience approaches, he aims to unravel disease mechanisms, identify therapeutic targets, and develop innovative interventions to slow or reverse neurological diseases. He is well-expertise in techniques such as molecular cytogenetics, pathway analysis, and techniques in developing HiPSCs and Brain organoids, especially for neurological diseases. He has published over 100 research and review articles in various Internationally reputed SCI journals, 12 Book chapters and one book on Autism Spectrum Disorder. Dr Mahalaxmi Balachandar has experience in handling neurological disorder patients and has conducted genetic and epigenetic studies. She has experience in handling bone marrow derived mesenchymal stem cells (BM-MSCs) as a promising therapeutic agent for LHON disease. Further, Dr Mahalaxmi Balachandar has generated Brain organoids from various neurodevelopmental diseases. Her role in terms of research is to continually engage in research and update my knowledge to inspire the students to do their own original research. She has published almost 50 review and research articles in several internationally reputed SCI journals. Her articles in reputable international journals demonstrate how performing cutting edge research is made possible by updating current research technologies.
