About the Book

Microbial Stress Survival explores the diversity of microbes, the microbe-host relationship, and various strategies employed by microbes that enable them to adapt to stressful environments, and in hostile conditions. The book covers critical pathogen biology, microbial adaptation and survival strategies, and the impact of microbial resilience on therapeutic efforts. Topics include the modulation of host pathways by pathogens for their adaptation and survival, their drug tolerance and antimicrobial resistance, the role of proteins in microbial stress survival, and the evolutionary adaptative mechanisms of extremophiles. This book is an insightful resource for those interested in pathogen biology and the different adaptive features and resilience of microbes.

Table of Contents:
1. Two-component systems of pathogens (Mycobacterium tuberculosis/ Streptococcus pneumoniae/ Salmonella enterica / Helicobacter Pylori etc.) in stress sensing and adaptations 2. Role of lipoproteins in the pathogenesis of Mycobacterium tuberculosis 3. PhoPR two-component system mycobacterial virulence 4. SenX3–regX3 two-component regulatory System proteins in the pathogenesis of Mycobacterium tuberculosis 5. Mycobacterial membrane vesicles in host-pathogen interactions and pathogenesis 6. Different growth regulation strategies of microbes for survival and reactivation during stress 7. Microbial secretion system and quorum sensing 8. Bacteria and biofilms as natural inhabitants of our body and biofilms in chronic infections 9. Molecular level drug tolerance and resistant strategies in a diverse group of pathogenic microbes and the uses of different antimicrobial agents 10. Adaptation to various antimicrobial agent (resistance) stress in diverse pathogenic microbes 11. Adaptation mechanisms in the initiation factors involved in the translation process of thermophilic bacteria 12. Structural adaptations in the of valine--tRNA ligases of different halophiles 13. Molecular evolution steered adaptations in the phosphoglycerate and pyruvate kinase of piezophilic bacteria 14. Recent advances in the survival and adaptation strategies of microbes in extreme radiation 15. Cold dwelling microorganisms – A theory on psychrophilic adaptation 16. Structural adaptations in the CRISPR-Cas of different thermophiles

About the Author :
Dr. Ashutosh Kumar is an active researcher and scientific writer in his field for over 14 years and presently working at Department of Microbiology, Tripura University (A Central University), Suryamaninagar, Agartala, Tripura, India. He received MSc and PhD degree in Biotechnology from University of Hyderabad, India. He did his postdoctoral research at TIFR-National Centre for Biological Sciences Bangalore, Indian Institute of Technology Delhi and Jamia Hamdard, New Delhi, India. He also worked as a Visiting Research Scientist at Robert Koch Institute Berlin, Germany. He has made significant contributions to the study of virulence mechanisms and strategies of survival, adaptation, and persistence of Mycobacterium tuberculosis. He was involved in identification of an enzyme from M. tuberculosis that promote biofilm formation and drugs that enhanced the potency of two current anti-tuberculosis antibiotics. He received many scholarships, awards, and fellowship during his education. He has many publications in international journals and books.
