Review :

"Ethics are the cornerstone to good clinical practice and good research. The clinical needs of patients are paramount in healthcare delivery. It is important that across cultures, rights of individuals with mental illness and dilemmas are respected. Issues related to privacy and confidentiality may vary across healthcare systems and cultures, however, ethical considerations remain paramount. The success of the previous two editions of this very welcome volume indicates the need for continuing to deliver mental health care services in an appropriate and ethical manner. Editors and authors are to be congratulated for their vision and effort in highlighting challenges and potential ways forward ensuring that clinicians approach their practice in an ethical framework. This volume will be of great interest to mental health professionals."

Professor Dinesh Bhugra, CBE, President, BMA (2018-2019), President World Psychiatric Association (2014-2017), President, The Royal College of Psychiatrists (2008-2011)

"As a trainee psychotherapist, the changing landscape and challenges faced in clinical practice can feel overwhelming and hard to navigate. However, having such a comprehensive, accessible and informative book like this is invaluable to professional development. This is a well-thought and well-crafted book, which attends to numerous dilemmas that clinicians encounter. It also acts as a guideline for trainees to ensure that an ethical framework is adopted at all times throughout training and clinical practice. As a trainee therapist, it is vital to have a book like this to refer to as it offers trustworthy guidance on a range of important topics that need careful consideration."

Martina Kehoe, Trainee, MSc, Integrative Psychotherapy

"Ethics are the foundation of therapeutic practice. In order to navigate the unique and complex challenges presented to practitioners, a robust understanding of ethics in practice is essential. This considered edition brings together notable voices from a variety of perspectives, presenting a comprehensive analysis of ethics in contemporary psychotherapeutic work. This publication is one of those must have references for all practitioners at every level."

Bee MacBean, MBACP Registered Counsellor/Psychotherapist

"The Handbook consists of accessible, concise overviews of an incredibly comprehensive range of professional issues. As such, it will be highly relevant to a broad audience of counsellors, psychotherapists, psychiatrists and clinical and counselling psychologists. This third edition has been updated to take account of recent UK professional body practice and ethical guidelines and also includes a number of new chapters including ones on service user involvement and social inclusion issues. As with previous editions, it will undoubtedly prove invaluable to trainees and highly experienced practitioners alike."

- David Murphy, President, British Psychological Society (2019-2020)
