Manual of Oncologic Therapeutics

A book intended for oncologists, general surgeons, internists and oncologic nurses - anyone in fact in either the hospital or outpatient setting responsible for day-to-day oncologic therapy. It provides a concise authoritative source of information on the details of therapeutics: diagnosis, staging and treatment of the cancer patient. Part 1 presents common procedures for biopsy and endoscopy. Part 2 describes available techniques for assessing involvement of the major organ systems. Part 3 describes basic therapeutic procedures performed in a general medical setting, including placement of tubes or catheters into body cavities or vascular system; implication of radiotherapy for the general care of the patient; and the delivery of chemotherapy, hormones, and biologic response modifiers. Part 4 outlines treatments of specific diseases such as gynaecologic, head and neck, pancreatic, and gastrointestinal cancers; the acute and chronic leukemias; Hodgkin's disease; and cancers in children. Other topics include regional therapies, oncologic emergencies and rehabilitation.
