About the Author :
Val Brooks is an associate professor in the Institute of Education at Warwick University where she has been involved with three programmes of secondary initial teacher training: PGCE, Flexible Postgraduate Initial Teacher Training and the Graduate Teacher Programme. Previous to this, she taught English in the secondary sector. Ian Abbott is Deputy Director of the Institute of Education at Warwick University. He has been the co-ordinator of the PGCE Economics and Business Studies programme and a core professional studies tutor. Previous to this he taught Economics and Business Studies in schools and colleges. Liz Bills is a university lecturer at Oxford University. She teaches on the PGCE mathematics subject course as well the Professional Development Programme. She taught mathematics in secondary schools before becoming a university lecturer.
