About the Book

"The Two-Lane Gourmet "is the first wine-and-cuisine guide to sample top estate vineyards, intriguing inns, and intimate dining in all three West Coast states, from Southern California to Washington. Come along with bestselling author Tom Snyder on a delightful tour of more than two thousand miles of breathtaking wine country roads to enjoy hundreds of handcrafted wines, unique entrees, and gracious inns---all waiting for you to discover and appreciate them to the fullest. You'll never be at loss for words---a primer on winetasting is included, along with a pronounciation guide to popular wines. Suggestions for food-and-wine pairings, together with sources for recipes created by blue-label chefs from Europe and America, are also covered. So find a region in the contents that calls to you and set out on a grand tour of your own. Swirl, sip, choose from an astonishing variety of dishes, and doze off on 700-count Italian linen sheets while vineyards rustle in the night breeze just below your balcony. Ready to unwind a bit? It's all here, waiting for you, in" The Two-Lane Gourmet." Lovely drives, good friends, fine wine, amiable conversation---this book is your passport."

About the Author :
As a leader in back-road touring, Tom Snyder's labor of love with fabled Route 66 has led more than a quarter million travelers to rediscover the grand old highway, its towns, and its people. Tom has lived and traveled throughout California and the Pacific Northwest for much of his life. Along the way, he has worked as an oil-field swamper, a short-order cook, a sailing coach, and the director of a nationwide program for children with special needs. A lapsed pilot and semiprudent motorcyclist, Tom acknowledges a genetic weakness for open spaces and quick machines.

Review :
Internationally honored as the "Best of the U.S." in the Wine Atlas/Tourism Book category for the 2007 Gourmand International Competition"A copious compendium on wineries, B&Bs, and eateries on a vinous road trip stretching some 1,800 serpentine miles from Temecula to Walla Walla and just about everywhere in between. An invaluable guide to the many wine regions on the West Coast, from famed Napa/Sonoma to little-known pockets of viticultural heaven, I'm sure this book will be dog-eared and wine-stained by many for years to come."---Rex Pickett, author of "Sideways""""What could be better than meandering down a two-lane highway in the vine-covered hills of West Coast wine country with frequent stops to sample the products of local wineries? -- Well, how about a delicious meal and a beautiful place to spend the night at the end of a long, "strenuous "day of tasting! It's all here in the Two-Lane Gourmet -- picturesque back-road routes, artisan wineries, wonderful restaurants and charming inns -- as well as first-hand encounters with the individuals that make it all happen. This little book is so full of enticing possibilities it makes me want to jump in the car, fill 'er up and go!" -- Alan Tardi, author of "Romancing the Vine " "An unabashedly sentimental journey along roads less traveled, written with warmth and wit. Tom Snyder taps into the sweet, seductive heartbeat of inns, wineries, and restaurants well worth a lingering visit." ---Ellen Crosby, author of" The Chardonnay Charade" " . . .the book is not intended to be a technical tome, but a light and enjoyable read with lots of helpful addresses, contact information and useful recommendations for the potential traveler. For the most part, it succeeds admirably on all these fronts . . . even if you never set foot in any of the wineries or restaurants profiled, this book would prove a good companion to you alongside a nice glass of wine on a rainy winter day in front of the fire."---"Oregon Wine Press" "" ." . . well-written . . . an ambitious project."--"Salinas Californian" "A copious compendium on wineries, B&Bs, and eateries on a vinous road trip stretching some 1,800 serpentine miles from Temecula to Walla Walla and just about everywhere in between.
