About the Book

Find freedom from anxiety as you lift your gaze from the problems and pressures of this world to the changeless and powerful character of your heavenly Father.

Is my cancer back Is my job secure Will I ever get married Are my children safe Our lives are often a chronicle of trouble, pain, and uncertainty--and God's children yearn for peace. Many who wrestle with anxiety and despair know that the Bible calls them to "trust God," but what does that even mean

In Consider the Lilies, pastor, podcaster, and speaker Jonny Ardavanis shows us God's consistent response to those who are worn down by worry and badgered by melancholy: He proclaims His own character. Drawing on that perspective-shifting model, Jonny offers biblical insight on how to ground our thoughts and fix our gaze on who God is.

Compassionate, biblical, and timely, Consider the Lilies explores:

  • How dwelling on the character of God is the surest pathway to peace
  • The root causes of anxiety and worry in the Bible
  • What the Bible says about the integration of our physical and spiritual lives
  • Why worry grieves God's heart as our Father

Consider the Lilies is for those who long for liberation from their anxiety and fear--and desire to deeply know the God they are called and enabled to trust. If you are starved for hope and gasping for peace, consider the character of your heavenly Father, who welcomes all who are anxious, fearful, and melancholy to trust in Him.

Review :
Anxiety, depression, fear, and insecurity plague this generation. We need answers! Jonny Ardavanis has provided us with timeless answers and what I see as one of the most essential resources of our day. I know his background and experience, and I have seen his pastoral heart on display. He is wise beyond his years and has a passion for seeing people set free from the bondage keeping them in chains. This book will point us all back to the character of God and be a trusted resource for years to come. Consider the Lilies is a much-needed, refreshing, and comprehensive look at the antidote to anxiety. Jonny Ardavanis helps us cut through the surface of worry and anxiety and shows us that focusing on the character of God is the pathway to peace. In a world where anxiety and the pressures of daily life can feel overwhelming, Jonny Ardavanis masterfully guides us to shift our focus from our worries to the steadfast, unchanging character of God. With profound biblical insights and practical applications, he teaches us to anchor our thoughts in the unchanging nature of Jesus Christ. His emphasis on meditating on God's Word, engaging in heartfelt prayer, and building strong relationships has deeply impacted my spiritual journey. His compassionate, pastoral approach provides a lifeline for those yearning for freedom from anxiety and fear. I wholeheartedly recommend this book to anyone looking to deepen their trust in God and experience His perfect peace. In the last century, cultural observers began to warn about an 'age of anxiety.' These days, we live in an atmosphere of nearly undiluted anxiety. It's in the air we breathe, and it pervades our entire culture. In this important new book, Jonny Ardavanis points us to God's self-revelation in Scripture as our only escape from the anxiety the world would otherwise press upon us all. He offers biblical counsel grounded in the gospel of Jesus Christ that unapologetically affirms God's power and divine sovereignty. Jonny Ardavanis beautifully illuminates the profound truth that perfect peace is found in understanding the holy character of God. Consider the Lilies is a timely resource for believers seeking solace amid the turmoil of life in a constantly changing world. Johnny reminds us that to know ourselves truly, we must first know who God is, and he exhorts us to let Scripture inform our emotions. He provides invaluable help for the Christian's growth in grace. Jonny Ardavanis does not consider anxiety in a simplistic nor overly complicated way. Instead, he approaches it the way Christians need to frame every issue--biblically and in light of the character of God. His pastor's heart and love for the Bible come through clearly. Anyone who struggles with anxiety, or loves someone who does, will be greatly helped by what Jonny has written. Ours is a culture plagued by crippling fears and anxieties. Few are immune from this epidemic, and that holds true for many Christians. Furthermore, we have turned to the useless escape mechanisms, distractions, and psychological idols of our secular ethos that helped create the problem in the first place. Jonny Ardavanis has seen the devastation firsthand, and he points us to the one and only antidote--clinging to the glorious triune God unveiled in the pages of Scripture. Jonny leads us to find our refuge in the eternal, benevolent, and sovereign God who knows and loves His children. The title of this book immediately brings to mind the words of Jesus, who rebuked the disciples for their fear and worry. After all, if God takes care of the lilies of the field, will he not care for us as well? In this book, Jonny Ardavanis goes directly to the source of our anxiety--namely, our inadequate view of the character of God. It stands to reason that the better we understand the attributes of our heavenly Father, the less anxiety we will have. Read this book to remind yourself that God has already lived your tomorrows! This book is exceptional in every way. The rich biblical content, theological depth, spiritual insight, and pastoral tone perfectly blend to produce a beautiful landscape of comfort and encouragement for any troubled soul to cherish. Consider the Lilies is a transformational gift that should become a classic. We have the mind of Christ, the apostle Paul tells us, so it makes sense that we should think about what Christ tells us to think about. Anxiety is one reason this is easier said than done. Consider the Lilies is full of all the reminders you and I tend to forget when we fill our minds with everything but what Christ tells us to meditate on. If you need safeguarding against anxiety, please read this book and 'consider the lilies.'
