About the Book

In a business climate that has given us Enron, WorldCom, and ImClone, millions of people are outraged by the unfairness exhibited by so many unscrupulous business executives who had been entrusted with the leadership and stewardship of such companies. This book gives us a positive alternative and helps us believe that "winning" is not just the frosting on the cake--it's what we all want to believe is the possible outcome of doing the right thing--especially in a world where so many have shown they are willing to do anything--fair or not--to succeed. At first glance, Gary Peters' rags-to-riches business career personifies the American Dream. You could say he lived that Dream. He's spent a lifetime in business constantly pursuing his goal of success. Most observers would contend that he's achieved more of it than most people ever hope for. This is not merely one more inspiring Horatio-Alger story of overcoming and of accomplishment, accumulation of wealth, and fulfillment of dreams. It's also a surprisingly frank and transparent testimony of someone who has known failure and experienced pain. He's seen the closest of relationships painfully broken in the pursuit of success. He's experienced the frustration and the joy of slowly rebuilding those relationships with a serious, sacrificial commitment of time, patience, and energy. And it is here--not through the brilliant business wisdom of a Wall Street wizard, but in the honest confessions of a struggling fellow pilgrim--that countless readers will be able to find direction, hope, and help in what Gary Peters has to say. This book can and will speak to a broad range of readers--and on several levels: (1) as a timely and instructive business book; (2) as a how-to/advice treatment born out of one man's honest and helpful testimony as to where he found answers when faced with some of life's thorniest problems, at work and in his personal life; (3) as a captivating personal biographical narrative. Everyone loves a good story and Gary Peters' is a remarkable one. In a day and age when the high-rolling executives of companies such as Enron, World Com, and ImClone have exploited and disillusioned their employees, their shareholders, and the public alike, Gary Peters has maintained a reputation for personal and corporate integrity. At a time when so many voices lament the moral bankruptcy plaguing corporate America, Gary is willing to step forward and elaborate on the Christian values he has applied to foster success and create a unique atmosphere in his incredibly successful business.
