About the Book

"...one of the better guides" - "The Guardian" The 16th edition of "Which MBA?", the comprehensive and authoritative guide to choosing the ideal MBA, reflects the ever-increasing range of options in the business education marketplace, away from one-size-fits-all approach to diversity and choice. This 16th helps the reader understand the range of options available in executive education and what sort of program would be most appropriate to their goals and constraints. "Which MBA "offers""an unbiased and detailed assessment of MBA programs worldwide. It also features a first ever ranking of distance-learning programs, a rapidly growing sector.

Table of Contents:
Proposed table of contents Chapter 1: Which skills will the business person of the future need? [Author: Daniel Franklin/Frances Cairncross] The Economist Intelligence Unit will conduct a survey of 300 senior executives worldwide, asking them for their view of what skills the employee of the future will need; what profile they are looking for in today's up-and-coming crop of executives; and which functions they expect to see gaining, and declining, in importance within the corporate organisation. Give the conclusions of this survey, as well as the insights drawn from the in-house analysis and forecasting of the Economist Intelligence Unit, the chapter will give a crisp overview of the relative merits of various forms of executive education-full-time MBAs, part-time MBAs, distance-learning MBAs, executive MBAs, and the wider range of exec education courses-and of the trends we see emerging in the executive education marketplace. Chapter 2: Full-time MBAs A * advantages, A * disadvantages A * FT options (1-year, 2-year) A * Cost A * Choosing a school & rankings A * The student's perspective (short article/box written by student giving insight into what it's like on a FT programme) Chapter 3: Part-time MBAs A * advantages, A * disadvantages A * Options (1-year, 2-year) A * Cost A * Choosing a school A * The student's perspective Chapter 4: Distance-learning MBAs A * advantages, A * disadvantages A * FT options (1-year, 2-year) A * Cost A * Choosing a school & rankings A * The student's perspective Chapter 5: EMBAs A * advantages, A * disadvantages A * FT options (1-year, 2-year) A * Cost A * Choosing a school A * The student's perspective Chapter 6: Executive programmes at business schools A * advantages, A * disadvantages A * Options (open, tailored) A * Non-business school offerings A * Cost A * Choosing a school A * The student's perspective Chapter 7: Other considerations A * how to pay for your course A * how to get into a school (admissions, interviews, GMAT) A * how to get a job Rankings tables Set of well-designed tables showcasing the third year of full-time MBA rankings and the first-ever distance-learning rankings, plus relevant regional and category splits School profiles (130 in total, 50 in the US/ 50 in Europe/ 30 in Asia) A * To be re-designed, making them easier to use. A * Rankings-based. Should include a breakdown of how the school fared in each ranking category and show transparent raw data where applicable. A * In keeping with the new focus of the book could include a matrix of easily comparable facts for each type of course the school offers (so courses can easily be compared by rank, cost, faculty etc.). This should also remove bulk from the directory and make it easier to use. Will still include a write-up of the school, but should contain less about course content (ie, give an overview rather than a breakdown of each semester) and concentrate more on our view of the school and on original content. A * Each profile write-up to be structured around six headings: A A Background (history, dean, status etc) A A Facilities A A Ranking (including where the school fares well/badly, movement over time) A A Strengths/weaknesses (finance, marketing, internationalism etc) A A Student quotes A A Recruiters/accreditation "New to this Edition" Which MBA?, the comprehensive and authoritative guide to choosing the ideal MBA program is undergoing a fundamental shift: What was in the last edition simply a guide to choosing the right MBA program is now a) a guide to helping the reader understand the range of options available in executive education and what sort of program would be most appropriate given the goals and constraints on the individual, and b) an unbiased and detailed assessment of those worldwide programs. It also features a first ever ranking of distance-learning programs, a sector that is growing rapidly. These changes reflect the ever-increasing range of options in the business education marketplace, away from one-size-fits-all to diversity and choice.
