About the Book

This comprehensive introductory text provides students with a practical framework for all aspects of media production by addressing the technological and aesthetic changes that have shaped the industry. The text follows the creative process from pre-production, through production to post-production. It fills the need for a new type of production textbook that is truly comprehensive in approach and addresses the interconnection between film, video, audio, and multimedia technologies. Comparisons of digital and analog production techniques are carried out with detailed descriptions, illustrations, photographs, and diagrams. Addressing both studio and field issues, the text is organized to follow the production process logically from beginning to end, from concept through to finished product, while still offering information which can be used on an individual chapter basis. In addition to offering a variety of traditional and contemporary technologies and techniques, both Dr. Kindem and Dr. Musburger also introduce students to important aesthetic approaches to media production.
