About the Book

Existing methodological conventions in organisation and management studies tend to consider the research process as primarily a technical question. As a result, many inexperienced and junior scholars find it difficult to engage with issues that are of critical importance to the quality of their work. In contrast, this book places at the heart of discussion the personal and social experiences of the researcher and does so through its focus on transformation research. The uncertainties, ambiguities and even dangers of working in transforming societies create personal and professional problems and stresses that require fieldwork researchers to develop imaginative and ingenious strategies. The contributors to this book write with uncanny honesty about their personal fieldwork experiences, and in doing so, offer an unusual yet fascinating route into understanding and resolving significant methodological issues.
