About the Book

'This handbook incorporates information that will be invaluable for doing business in South East Europe. It is being published at a time when such information is at a premium, because the region is set to grow exponentially.' (Valentin Inzko, The High Representative and EU Special Representative in Bosnia and Herzegovina) The Handbook of Doing Business in South East Europe provides a comprehensive yet compact account of the business environment in South East Europe. Academic experts present data and analysis on the major political, legal, economic, cultural and social issues and trends which have an influence on business activities in the region. A rich picture emerges of a region of 70 million inhabitants characterized by rapid economic and social changes after the fall of communism and a significant rise in foreign direct investments. As political and legislative systems evolve, the region struggles with issues such as the influence of informal networks and corruption. For the purposes of this volume, the editors include the following countries: Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Hungary, Kosovo, Macedonia, Moldova, Montenegro, Romania, Serbia and Slovenia.
