About the Book

Seán Lawless is a name that may not be familiar to many, but his untold story is one that demands attention. In a world dominated by international gambling corporations, Lawless stood alone in his fight for fairness and transparency. He was the single independent bookmaker who dared to challenge the formidable forces controlling the gambling industry. The Big Four bookmakers-Ladbrokes, Corals, Hills, and Mecca-joined forces and formed SIS, who illegitimately set about to wipe out independent bookmakers. The independents fell like dominoes, except Lawless, who has since relentlessly pursued the Big Four's SIS for breaching and illegally tampering with their contract.

Over the course of three decades of battling SIS, Lawless endured personal struggles, spending five weeks in a facility for depression. Having gone through the courts, Lawless briefed one of the top 3 international law firms in Ireland, who failed him, and latterly two additional eminent law firms who also failed him. Lawless realised that, if he continued to pursue this matter, it could end as life-threatening. However, Lawless decided to pursue the matter as a lay litigant, despite the threat to his health. Gathering his accumulated evidence, Lawless ultimately appealed to the Supreme Court after exhausting his efforts in the lower courts.

Warning: this book does show how to make a $Billion, but the means of getting it may not be entirely legitimate.

About the Author :
John Hayden was the runner to the bookmakers for his father and brothers at ten years of age, he soon got gripped on betting on horses. In his teens, there was no real work to be got in Ireland. He remembers his waking thought each morning: I wonder what horses are running today? If he had any money, he would spend the day in the bookies doing miniscule bets. If he had no money, he would search until someone in the neighbourhood needed an odd job done to earn his money for betting. It wasn't until he started a family with his wife that he got to grips with his gambling addiction. When he was introduced to Seán Lawless five years ago and heard his story, it immediately resonated. His journey with Seán gave John a deep understanding of the world of bookmakers, an understanding that gamblers and bookmakers are oblivious to, and an insight into how the corporate bookmakers pulled the wool over the eyes of the entire horse racing fraternity for over 38 years.
