About the Book

Purchase of this book includes free trial access to www.million-books.com where you can read more than a million books for free. This is an OCR edition with typos. Excerpt from book: HANNAH'S PET LAMB INTRODUCTION. This parable is intended to help Christian children who have the Bible in their hands to understand the meaning of the Passover. I shall begin, therefore, by asking such of you as can find the places most quickly to read out distinctly a few texts. John, will you find Exodus xii. 12, 13, and read the two verses so that all may hear. For I will pass through the land of Egypt this night, and will smite all the first born in the land of Egypt, both man and beast; and against all the gods of Egypt I will execute judgment: I am the Lord. And the Blood shall be unto you for a token upon the houses where ye are: And WHEN I SEE THE BLOOD I WILL PASS OVER You, and the plague shall not be upon you to destroy you when I smite the land of Egypt. I hope you all notice that it is God who is speaking, and that He says, When I see the Blood I will pass over you. Now, Mary, will you read one verse, Leviticus xvii. 11. For the life of the flesh is in the Blood: and I have given it to you upon the altar to make an atonement for your souls: for it is the Blood that maketh an atonement for the soul. Perhaps some of you do not know what Atonement means. Well, just break it up into three syllables and you will see. At- one-ment. It is something that makes those who were at enmity to be at one. It is God who speaks in this text also; indeed, it is only God who speaks from beginning to end of Leviticus: and He says that He gives us the Blood, and gives it upon His altar, to make an Atonement for our souls, so that He and we may be no longer at enmity, but at one, at peace. Thomas, will you please turn to Joshua v. and read on at the loth verse. And the children of Israel encamped in Gilgal, and kept the Passover on...
