About the Book

Blackstone's Police Manuals are the leading police reference texts in the UK. In addition to being the only offical study guides for the police promotion examinations in England and Wales, and a recognised text for student police officers, the Manuals have quickly established themselves as the definitive reference sources for all who have involvement with police law and procedure. The Manuals have been written in consultation with police forces across England and Wales, and are endorsed by Centrex, now known as the National Policing Improvement Agency, for OSPRE Part 1 Promotion Examinations. Blackstone's Police Manual Volume 2: Evidence and Procedure: 2008 covers all aspects of evidence law and procedure from a police officer's perspective. The 2008 edition has been updated to incorporate all recent legislative developments including the introduction of the Police and Justice Act 2006 and the Violent Crime Reduction Act 2006. The 2008 Manual has been fully revised and restructured to make it even more accessible, relevant, and focussed. The Manuals are widely used in the professional development of police officers in a variety of roles, making them essential reading for anyone with an interest in police and criminal law. Whether you are a serving police officer or police trainer, a practitioner, advisor, or researcher, Blackstone's Police Manuals 2008 are an essential purchase. The other three titles in the series are: Volume 1: Crime 2008, Volume 3: Road Policing 2008 and Volume 4: General Police Duties 2008.

Review :
Review from previous edition "The author(s) have to be commended for their diligence, perseverance and attention to meticulous detail ... The momentous effort that has been put into this manual is a testament to the integrity and dedication of the author(s) who should be proud in the work they have achieved. Again, yet another example of an excellent source of reference material which is a 'must have' not just for those studying for promotion but also for everyday use by both Police officers, Police Staff and the general legal profession alike."--Stuart K Fairclough, Metroplitan Police Trainer "The manuals are an excellent training and reference work. They are pitched at a level which is appropriate for all, from the new student officer to those studying for promotion to higher rank. I would recommend them to every officer wishing to improve or maintain their knowledge of law, police duties and procedures."--Paul Murphy, Greater Manchester Police
