Review :
Review from previous edition Martin Partington has succeeded admirably in providing a text which both explains things clearly, and encourages the reader to think about the enormous changes currently affecting the legal system. He has been able to draw on his experience not only as a teacher of law, but also as a law reformer and contributor to the work of many important committees. Lord Philips of Worth Matravers Clear, succinct and helpful text for students starting out on a law degree. Angus Johnston, Professor of Law, University of Oxford Great at showing real world applications of the English Legal System in action. Dr. Hayley Roberts, School of Law, Bangor University A very good read - this is academic writing at its best. There is a clear narrative and the reader is encouraged to form their own opinions. Roger Thomas, Lecturer in Law, Anglia Ruskin University A comprehensive introduction to the basic role and workings of the English Legal System. Introduction to the English Legal System provides a detailed explanation of the key legal institutions in a logical and easy-to-follow structure. Laurence Thomas, Law student, Durham University Partington is a fantastic resource for introductory English Legal System units and continues to be an excellent reference throughout the degree. Emily Barrett, Law student, Bristol University I really appreciated this book when I first started my law degree. Partington provides a broad and interesting overview of the English Legal System in an accessible way, helping me to understand how the law fits into society today. Kelly Newman, Law student, University of Exeter Great foundation text which makes complex ideas accessible, and has helped me to appreciate that law is relevant beyond the classroom. I would recommend this text to all new law students. Holly Sumbler, Law student, University of Exeter A really good introduction to this subject; ideal as pre-course reading. Rebecca Smith, Lecturer in Law, University of Wales, Newport
