Review :
"Very useful, good overview generally of major topics."--Beverly Bennett, Goucher College "A heterogenous and frank collection of articles which offer a number of new insights."--Labour "Makes an outstanding contribution by focusing on the main question of why inequalities persist and by emphasizing the qualitative aspect of inequalities, the processes through which gender inequalities are imbibed, the role of households and patriarchal relationships, etc."--Journal of Educational Planning and Administration "A rich collection of essays by qualified academics from every region of the world....Should be 'must reading' for everyone concerned about development and about women."--World Hunger Education Service "In the crowded field of books on women in development, this one will crowd out many of its competitors. More than most, it lives up to its authors' hopes of producing state-of-the-art work on important issues facing third world women today....A meaty, timely collection. Index, handy consolidated bibliography."--Population and Development Review "Excellent book--very well written."--Chris Johnson, Northeast Louisiana University
