Obsessive-compulsive Disorder: Phenomenology, Pathophysiology, and Treatment

Obsessive-compulsive disorder affects approximately one person in 40 and causes great suffering. Effective treatments are available that can help many, and our understanding of the psychology, neurobiology, and clinical treatment of the disorder has advanced dramatically over the past 25 years. About the Author :
Christopher Pittenger is Director of the Yale OCD Research Clinic and Associate Professor of Psychiatry at Yale University. He trained at Columbia University, where he both received his medical degree and completed his Ph.D. with Nobel Prize winner Eric Kandel. He then completed his clinical training in psychiatry at Yale, where he joined the faculty in 2007. Dr. Pittenger lives outside New Haven, CT, with his wife, four children, three cats, and six chickens.
