About the Book

MMPI Instruments: Assessing Personality and Psychopathology 6th edition provides a bridge for graduate students and clinicians alike in navigating the changes and updates to the MMPI, including the recently released MMPI-3. The Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory (MMPI) family of instruments are the most widely used tests of personality and psychopathology in the United States and are commonly used in countries around the world. They are used in inpatient and outpatient mental health settings, medical centers, and correctional settings. MMPI instruments are also used in the screening of applicants for jobs that involve public trust and safety. They are frequently admitted as evidence in civil and criminal legal proceedings. Now available as an ebook, in several formats including RedShelf, VitalSource, and Chegg. All major devices are supported.

About the Author :
John R. Graham is Professor Emeritus of Psychology at Kent State University. He began his work with the MMPI during his graduate training at the University of North Carolina in the 1960s. He is the author of several books about the MMPI instruments and their applications as well as numerous empirical articles. He played a major role in the development of the MMPI-2 and MMPI-A and has taught workshops on the MMPI instruments throughout the world. Carlo Veltri is Associate Professor of Psychology at St. Olaf College, where he regularly teaches courses in psychology of personality, psychopathology, and forensic psychology. He received his PhD working under John Graham at Kent State. Tayla T.C. Lee, PhD, HSPP is an Associate Professor of Psychological Science at Ball State University. Dr. Lee received her PhD in clinical psychology from Kent State University and completed post-doctoral training at Indiana University - Bloomington. Dr. Lee's research investigates cognitive and personality mechanisms influencing externalizing disorders, as well as individual differences explanations for comorbidity between internalizing and externalizing problems. She has a second program of research that focuses on psychological assessment, especially the validity of scales from the Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory family of instruments (i.e., MMPI-2-RF and MMPI-A-RF). Dr. Lee is an associate editor for the Journal of Personality Assessment and a consulting editor for Psychological Assessment and the Journal of Clinical Psychology in Medical Settings. Dr. Lee teaches graduate and undergraduate courses in psychopathology, psychological assessment, and quantitative methods. She routinely conducts professional workshops in these areas as well. Dr. Lee has extensive clinical experience in psychological assessment of adolescents and adults. She is a licensed psychologist in the state of Indiana and maintains a private practice conducting forensic assessments.

Review :
I enjoy Graham's writing style. It is clear and coherent. He finds ways to present a large amount of material in varying ways - i.e., he tells us what each scale elevation means without seeming robotic or droning. It is the de facto resource for the MMPI-2. - Stephen Byrne, Alfred University It's comprehensive, well researched, scholarly, and well written. It has one of the best discussions of interpretation of Validity scales that I have found, i.e., consideration of configurations of Validity scales, rather than interpretation of them in isolation, nuanced discussion of their meaning, etc. The inclusion of the MMPI-A material sets it apart from the current text I use. I really enjoyed the author's writing style. It is engaging, avoids jargon, invites the reader's interest, and is a pleasure to read. It has a number of strengths compared to my current text, including more comprehensive coverage of several topics such as the MMPI-A, forensic applications, etc. - Marc Diener, Long Island University This text is by far the most comprehensive book on the market. While other MMPl books are appropriate, the author provides the most practical and comprehensive way to use MMPI in clinical practice. - Jason McGlothlin/Kent State University The approach of this distinguishes it from others. It covers pretty much everything a student at the doctoral level needs to know in using this clinical tool in their practice and research. - Dong Xie, University of Central Arkansas
