About the Book

In the two-year period since the publication of the first edition of "Microcomputers in Education", changes in the educational computing world have been even more dramatic than the changes brought about by the initial introduction of the microcomputer to schools and to learning. Few primary or secondary schools are now without one (or several) microcomputers; additionally, nearly one million homes have a personal computer, escalating the opportunity for "hands-on" experience for pupils, parents and teachers alike. This second edition reviews a completely new range of topics. The editor undertook the task of working the individual contributions to this brand new book, into a cohesive, broad-based educational text. She and her selection of authors have attempted to convey the continued promising future of computers in all areas of learning, including the latest work on the possible uses of the fifth-generation language PROLOG, as well as the use of LOGO as an educational tool. The book is divided into four main section headings, ie The New Languages, Secondary Education, Tertiary and Higher Education, and Adult Education, thus establishing a logical learning process. The chapters are written by authorities from individual fields of computer education, each of whom takes into account developments made in recent years.

Table of Contents:
