About the Book

A fast-paced, sci-fi thriller from a stunning new British talent. The Keiko is a ship of smugglers, soldiers of fortune and adventurers, travelling Earth's colony planets searching for the next job. And nobody talks about their past. But when a face from Captain Ichabod Drift's former life send them on a run to Old Earth, all the rules change. Trust will be broken, and blood will be spilled.

About the Author :
Mike Brooks was born in Ipswich, England, and moved to Nottingham, England to study at Nottingham Trent University and never left. He started to write stories and novels in childhood, has worked for a homelessness charity since 2004 and when not working or writing he goes walking in the Peak District, sings and plays guitar in a punk band, and DJs wherever anyone will tolerate him. He is married, and has two cats and a snake.

Review :
Mike Brook's Dark Run is a rambunctious, rapidfire rollercoaster of a read. Get signed up and strapped in for a helluva ride! Great fun . . . Golden Age chic! Brooks’s terrific debut demonstrates that a good caper tale can take place anywhere, even in interstellar space ... Fans of rip-roaring space adventures will greatly enjoy this one. Dark Run is a thrill-ride of non-stop action, wise-crackery and adventure in the vast vaults of outer space. I look forward to revisiting Ichabod Drift and the crew of the Keiko time and again… ...if you’re looking for a Firefly-like tale, filled with characters like Damian Frey and the crew of the Ketty Jay, you won’t be disappointed with this one. A quick read, but an immensely entertaining one. ...a story which rockets from drama to drama, leaving the reader breathless. At the end of the day, it’s a lot of fun, and as such, worth reading. Dark Run is great action science fiction that fans of fast-paced tales will love. Intrigue, piracy and action, Dark Run is a page turning SF romp with with an edge as sharp as a mono-molecular blade. A fast and wry SF adventure full of the deviousness and wit of Firefly.
