About the Book

In the seventeen years since the first Behaviour of Offshore Structures conference took place in Trondheim, offshore engineering has been in the forefront of many diverse technological developments. While these advances have been specifically directed at the discovery and production of offshore oil and gas reserves, the resulting technologies have also benefited other maritime and land based industries. The BOSS conferences have been concerned with the design, construction and installation of structures used for the development of offshore oil and gas fields. These three volumes include more than 100 state-of-the-art technical papers covering the areas of Geotechnics, Hydrodynamics and Structures, and address the key topics facing the future of the offshore industry.

Table of Contents:
Part 1 Geotechnics: piles and anchors for TLPs; skirt piles and caissons; site investigation; new methods of analysis; calcareous soils and shallow foundations; soil properties. Part 2 Hydrodynamics and cable dynamics: wave drift damping; response of moored structures; second-order forces and viscous damping; cable and riser mechanics I; second-order forces; large scale flows; response of floating structures; wave kinematics and loads; ringing response and second-order forces; viscous flows and forces; seakeeping and wave loads; simulation of marine systems; development and testing of floating systems; loads and motions in waves. Part 3 Structures: reliability analysis of marine structures; inspection scheduling for offshore structures; design and analysis of offshore structures and pipelines; structural analysis of offshore tubulars; damage due to accidental loads and corrosion; structural consideration in jack-ups and jacket platforms; dynamic response of gravity based structures; re-assessment and requalification of platforms.
